Fun and Functional Toy Boxes

Various boxes, containers or bins: shoe box, large lidded plastic storage, old large coffee cans (Pick containers large enough to store toys.)

Set up a spray area by covering a table or other work surface with newspaper or drop cloth in a well ventilated area.
If using old or used containers, clean well before painting making sure they are free of dirt or grease.
Paint containers and let dry. Use one colour for the base and a coordinating colour for the lid.
Glue toy to container that identifies the ones being stored.
Embellish containers using paint pens if wanted. Paint your child’s name, stars on space toy box, labels, etc.
Give a protective finish with Crystal Clear Acrylic.

Use various Krylon paint colours of your choice to compliment kid’s room or toys. For cardboard containers use Krylon Indoor/Outdoor paint. For plastic containers use Krylon Fusion paint.
Use various Krylon Short Cuts Paint Pens to match colours. Black and white paint pens always work best if you want to label the storage containers.

Use toys as inspiration — paint schemes such as camouflage pattern for an army men box, black with stars for space toys, scales for dinosaurs, and pink polk-a-dots for dolls. Use this idea for larger containers or toy boxes as well.
