PAINTING VINYL SHUTTERS

Question: My house shutters are looking shabby and need repainted. The shutters are made of vinyl and I want to be sure that whatever paint I use will last. Which spray paint do you recommend?
Answer: We recommend that you use Krylon Fusion for Plastic® on your exterior vinyl shutters. Fusion for Plastic bonds easily to hard, rigid, non-flexing vinyl surfaces, such as vinyl shutters and vinyl-clad windows. It’s also easy to use because no sanding or priming is required. Plus, it dries in 15 minutes or less.
After painting your shutters, we recommend you keep your newly painted shutters inside a garage or covered for a week before putting them back up. After seven days, they will be fully chip-resistant and the paint will be better able to withstand the outdoor elements.
If you want to change the color of your shutters, it's best to choose a color that is similar in value to the current color of your shutters. We do not recommend that you change your shutter color from a light color to a dark color as this will cause the vinyl to absorb more heat and may cause the window cladding or shutters to buckle.
Best of luck and we hope you enjoy your newly painted shutters!
