Spray Painting Indoors

ask krylon

Question: I have an old toboggan that I would like to freshen up with a new coat of paint, but I cannot spray-paint outside as I usually do because of the inclement weather.  Do you have any spray-paint that can I can use indoors?

Answer: Although we recommend spray-painting outdoors whenever possible, it is safe to spray-paint indoors using Krylon® H2O™ Latex, a low-odor, fast-dry latex aerosol.  It’s a water-based spray paint that easily cleans up with soap and water, is lower in VOCs than solvent spray paints, and is available in a variety of colors.

So if the weather outside is uncooperative, you can still paint your project indoors with Krylon® H2O™ Latex and proper ventilation.  We recommend working in the garage with the doors open for best results and easy clean up.

When using spray-paint indoors, make sure the area is well ventilated by opening doors, windows, or using a fan.  Use newspapers or drop cloths to cover surrounding surfaces.  As always, follow label directions and warnings when using any aerosol paint.
