How to Spray Paint Plastic So it Looks Fantastic

(CLEVELAND — April 7, 2009)  Krylon® Fusion for Plastic is the preferred paint among do-it-yourselfers looking to rejuvenate plastic surfaces and eco-conscious consumers seeking to reduce the flow of plastics to landfills. Now the spray paint is available in a clear coat plus more than 40 colors, and features Krylon's exclusive EZ Touch 360°® Dial Spray Tip for more comfortable, accurate spraying.

New Krylon Fusion for Plastic Clear protects new unpainted plastic surfaces, sealing out dirt, pollen and more, so plastic patio furniture and other items stay clean and look new longer. The UV and fade-resistant clear coat also provides additional protection when applied over Fusion for Plastic colors. The newest Krylon Fusion for Plastic colors are Gum Drop, Ivy Leaf, Plum, Watermelon, Satin Brown Boots, Satin Peekaboo Blue, and Satin Terra Cotta. In addition to clear, high gloss and satin finishes, Krylon Fusion for Plastic is also available in metallic shimmer, textured, and hammered finishes.

Krylon Fusion for Plastic can be used on a wide range of plastic surfaces including ABS, PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, fiberglass and rubber. It is also great on wood, metal, wicker and vinyl. It is ideal for all kinds of projects in and around the home, from sprucing up faded plastic patio furniture, children's toys and playhouses to freshening up plastic fences, mailboxes, shutters, planters and storage containers.

The recyclable spray can's new EZ Touch 360°® Dial Spray Tip enables more comfortable spray painting with increased coverage per pass, reduced overspray, less chance of runs or drips and greater accuracy due to a dial that rotates a full 360°. Using the dial, painters can adjust the direction of the fan-spray pattern with the touch of a finger.

When using Krylon Fusion for Plastic, work in a well-ventilated area. Use newspapers or drop cloths to cover surrounding surfaces. For best adhesion on new or unweathered plastic surfaces, wipe the surface with standard paint thinner. For aged or weathered surfaces, wipe the surface with an ammonia-based cleaner.

Hold the can eight inches from surface applying thin, multiple coats. Spray in a sweeping motion, keeping an even distance from surface. Wait one minute between coats.

All Krylon aerosol paints are in compliance with the California Clean Air Act for Aerosol Coatings and the California Low Emissions and Reactivity Rule (CLEAR). For more home improvement hints, visit the Krylon website at www.krylon.com.
