In an area separate from where you will spray paint, use a clean rag or cloth to wipe clean the floating shelves. Ensure that the surface of each shelf is smooth, dull, and dry before spray painting.

Place the shelves on the drop cloth, making sure to leave enough space between each one to avoid overspray.
